The Knitter's Planner

Knit More. Be Happy.

Blog · September 13, 2021

Designer Feature: Angela Tong

As we celebrate the launch of the Knitter’s Planner, here on the blog we will spend the month learning a bit more about the amazing designers that brought us the four patterns in our 2022 Patterns section.

Designer Feature: Angela Tong

Our second 2022 Knitter’s Planner featured designer is the super-talented Angela Tong. Angela is a Chinese American fiber arts designer who recently relocated to Pennsylvania. She designs knitting, crochet, and weaving patterns and travels around the country teaching at fiber events. In her spare time, she enjoys making pottery and baking sourdough bread.

Angela’s designs have been published in magazines, books and yarn company pattern collections such as Interweave Knits, Knitscene, Knit Simple, Noro Knitting Magazine, Knit ‘N Style, and PetitePurls.com, Scarf Style 2, Free-Spirit Shawls: 20 Eclectic Knits for Every Day, Classic Elite Shawls, Wraps & Scarves, Crochet Noro: 30 Dazzling Designs and Knit Noro Accessories and Classic Elite Yarns. She is one busy lady!

Angela is not new to the Knitter’s Planner family! She designed the Retro Kerchief and Mitts for the very first edition of the Knitter’s Planner, and was featured in a promotional video for the Planner that can be found on our home page.

You can find Angela on Ravelry, or visit her lovely Instagram account (@angelatongdesigns) to see more about her life and family.

The Cadence Lollipop cowl

What a fun way to try some colorwork knitting by using a slip stitch pattern! While making the Cadence Lollipop Cowl, you only work with one color at a time, making it is easy for all skill levels.

When selecting yarn, SweetGeorgia Superwash Worsted is always a great choice! Lollipop and Tumbled Stone are great contrasting colors that both appear nearly solid, but have beautiful variations in the color that create a lovely texture.

This cowl is perfect to take you into the fall season and would be a great way to add excitement to even the simplest of outfits.

Next week, we will continue our Designer Feature Series with another one of our talented designers. Until then, be sure to follow us on Instagram and subscribe to our newsletter for all the latest Knitter’s Planner updates!
